Ann-Sophie Simard

Ann-Sophie Simard is a Ph. D. candidate in applied human sciences at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC), under the supervision of professors Eve Pouliot (UQAC) and Christine Gervais (UQO). She holds a master’s degree in social work and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UQAC. Her research interests focus on young people and families in contexts of vulnerability and, more specifically, on the consequences of disasters and post-traumatic growth. A CRSH, FRQSC and RIISQ scholarship recipient, her thesis seeks to understand the role of parental support in the post-traumatic growth of adolescents who have experienced flooding. It is part of a RIISQ-funded project that uses Digital Storytelling to better understand and mitigate the psychosocial impacts of flooding on the life trajectories of adolescents and parents in rural settings, while fostering their sense of agency. In addition to this involvement, she coordinates the activities of the CRC ZENITH.
