Jacques Cherblanc, Ph.D. in political science and in religious studies, is Full Professor in the Département des sciences humaines et sociales at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC) and head of the Laboratoire d’expertise et de recherche en anthropologie rituelle et symbolique (LERARS). His work addresses the spiritual, ethical and cultural dimensions of health, social services and education. He is also interested in questions of citizenship, religious diversity and spiritual care. His current research examines orphanhood in Canada and bereavement trajectories, as well as mental health and accessibility in university settings for groups in situations of vulnerability. Across his various projects, he seeks to better understand the psychosocial and spiritual needs of people facing significant challenges over the course of their lives.
